Acrobatics
Level: Beginning, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
Acrobatic dance or Acro, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. This class will build strength in the dancer. Coordination and confidence improve alongside that strength with musculature improving due to the work.
Ballet
Level: Beginning, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and it provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet helps to build strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility, while maintaining proper body alignment.
Body Mechanics
Level: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
This class will focus on strengthening the mind, body, and awareness through a series of somatic exercises and energetic cues to help you learn more efficient and effective ways of moving through space. This class will also help improve your balance and coordination while increasing your range of motion, flexibility, and body awareness.
Contemporary Dance
Level: Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3
Contemporary dance is a style that works on the expressiveness and versatility of a dancer while combining elements of jazz, ballet, and lyrical. Contemporary dance is the exploration of the total movement potential of the body. This style of dance strives to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.
Floorwork
Level: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
This class refers to movement done on the floor. There will be a warm up and a series of exercises/tricks put into progressions that are taught to move across the floor. Floorwork changes the body’s relationship with gravity and requires dancers to navigate between higher and lower levels (going in and out of the floor). These features are central to the use of floor work in choreography as well as its role in technique classes. Executing floorwork requires flexible joints, a relaxed body, and attention to the kinesthetic feedback provided by the floor.
Hip Hop
Level: Beginning, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
Hip hop is a popular, energetic dance style that is usually performed to hip hop music. Hip Hop focuses on rhythm, syncopation and stage presence. Derived from a combination of jazz funk, street jazz, Pop and lock, and breaking, this style of dance requires high energy, attention to detail and an understanding of complex rhythms.
Jazz
Level: Beginning, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer’s individual style and originality. This type of dance is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps, and lots of turns.
Leaps and Turns
Level: Beginning
This class is designed to help students understand the key components to executing their jazz leaps and turns. This class will focus on body placement, control, strength, and flexibility.
Lyrical
Level: Beginning, Level 1, Level 2
A fusion of ballet and jazz, dancers dance to slower music, where the “lyrics” of the music are interpreted through movement. Learning to act and express their body and face is the main objective of the class. This is a class that puts an emphasis on the emotional side of music expressed through dance.
Pointe
Level: Pre-pointe, Beginning Pointe, Pointe
Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet. It is required that each students takes a minimum of two ballet classes in order to maintain proper technique, strength, and alignment needed for pointe class. Students will start in a pre-pointe class to introduce their bodies to the rigors of dancing on the tips of their toes.
Tap
Level: Beginning, Level 1, Level 2
Being one of Americas few classical dance genres, tap teaches students to analyze music and add to it using tap techniques. Students in this class will learn basic to advanced techniques. Tap helps improve musicality, timing, style, coordination, and balance which are all necessary for every other style of dance. Whether it’s laid back and relaxed, or big and energetic, tap never fails to bring joy to those who give it a chance.
DANCE TEAMS
Studio Fusion Dance Team
Ages: 4-up
Studio Fusion’s Dance Company is designed for the serious dancer desiring to take their dance to the next level. Throughout the year we will compete in multiple regional and national competitions, attend dance conventions and perform at the studio recital. To be part of the dance company requires discipline, commitment, dedication, teamwork and an eagerness to learn. The styles performed vary from ballet, lyrical, jazz, contemporary, open, hip hop, musical theater, and tap.
Private Instruction
Level: Open to all
Private instruction is offered for dancers of all ages, levels and abilities. Ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, personal fitness and private groups. Private lessons are available by the half hour – one hour sessions and can be an individual, couple or group.
Master Classes
Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Ages: Ages 7 & Up
Availability is determined on a class to class basis.
Top professional dance instructors will teach master intensive class that are not currently included in the regular schedule.
